Lesson Expectations
What students can expect from Isabelle:

The delivery of high-quality, individualized vocal instruction appropriately tailored to each student’s age, level, goals, and interests in an uplifting and warm environment

Reliable communication: Isabelle is committing to responding to students within 24-48 hours of students’ messages.

Organization: Isabelle will provide students with a Google folder containing her lesson notes. Isabelle will provide clear practice instructions at the end of each lesson.

Resources: Students will have access to Isabelle’s student resources dashboard, as well a discounted Appcompanist subscription and Isabelle’s subscriptions to sheet music sites like MuseScore and Scribd.

Opportunities: Isabelle is happy to arrange opportunities for students to work with a live accompanist during the lesson if desired. Students may also be eligible to participate in the Chicago Chapter NATS Competition (age-dependent).

Empathy & flexibility: As part of Isabelle’s belief in a student-centered pedagogy, Isabelle values the physical and mental health of her students above their performance in voice lessons. She is prepared to adapt lesson plans if necessary while still preserving the educational value of the lesson.
What Isabelle expects from students:

Reliable communication: Isabelle expects students to respond to her messages within 24-48 hours.

On-time payments: Payments are expected within a 24-hour window of the lesson time.

A positive attitude: During lessons, Isabelle expects students to show up ready to learn and open to applying new strategies.

Transparency & preparedness: Like any private music lessons setting, Isabelle expects that students are ready, willing, and able to commit to regularly practicing their lesson materials. If this is not possible for whatever reason, Isabelle expects students to be communicative and honest about their situation so she can adapt and plan accordingly.

Appropriate materials: Isabelle expects students to bring a water bottle and a 3-ring binder with pencil OR iPad with Apple Pencil to view their music. Laptop computers are discouraged as quick, in-music notes are difficult.
A note for parents of young singers: Isabelle expects parents/guardians to understand and uphold these lesson expectations at home to ensure students have the most productive and enjoyable experience in lessons.
